The End: My Last Post

After over 12 years of sharing my thoughts, lessons, and personal life happenings at KandisDavis.com, I’m officially closing up shop and archiving this website effective today, July 7, 2018 (my 33rd birthday).

For 11 years we’ve met right here on July 7th to reflect on another year past and share hopes for the year to come. And here we are again doing our annual thing here for the last time.

Two years ago, I would’ve never imagined this day would come. I launched this site in March 2006 I was in college and knew about as much as a blank piece of paper. Yet! You stayed and stuck it out with me as I practically grew up in front of you!

I mean seriously, in my first post, “Thankful For Where I Am…” I used the number “4” in place of the word “for.”

Clearly text messaging was taking over all forms of modern communication at the time. *shakes head in shame*

As I’ve reflected on our years together, I’ve felt a deep sense of gratitude that we’ve been able to journey together all of these years. The readers of this blog have been absolutely amazing.

Here’s Just a Piece of What You’ve Done:

You have been gracious to come along with me on my journey when I barely had anything to say (see my profound post, “What Was It Like Growing Up as a Pastor’s Kid”)
You have been an encouragement to keep writing (see “Finding Your Voice and Deciding It Matters”)
You’ve been support when I’ve shared some of my deepest pains “A Hope That Hurts”
You’ve encouraged me and you’ve allowed me to in turn, attempt to share some encouragement with you
You’ve celebrated with me in every season
You’ve walked with me through loss
You’ve allowed me to share vulnerable things like, “Cutting the Cord” and “Confessions of a Rich Girl Living the Good Life” with no judgement
You’ve let me explore my existence in “When Does Womanhood Begin?”
You’ve trusted me
You’ve budgeted with me “How I Manage My—Scratch That—God’s Money”
You’ve gone thru life transitions with me “Why I Left Daystar”
You’ve followed me through my dating history “Dear Mr. Ex”
You’ve watched me prepare my heart for marriage “Are You The One?”
You’ve commented, texted, and told me in person how much a post spoke to you
You’ve grown in your faith with me
You shared my writings with others and re-posted them on your own websites and social media pages. “What is a Healthy Church Member? And Why Every Christian Should Care”
You’ve prayed with me and I’ve prayed with you
You’ve even watched me get married! “Our Love Story”
And every single time I wanted to quit or thought, “nobody is even reading this,” at least one of you hunted me down with a hand on your hip and a neck twist saying, “You haven’t written in a while! What’s going on?!”

So THANK YOU!! Thank you 100,000 times over. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of readers and supporters. And I hope this isn’t “goodbye” for us, but that you’ll each come along for what’s next.

So What Is Next?

Now I know you’re wondering why I’m shutting down this site.

There’s really only one reason. It’s time for something new!

My husband and I have decided to start a blog together! I’m so excited for you all to get to learn more about him and hear his heart on so many topics. Plus, he’s totally got me beat with the wordplay and communication skills so this should be some fun and challenging reading for us all!

We’re going to write some posts collectively and some individually. We want to bring you into the conversations we have every week over dinner or on a long car ride. We regularly discuss articles, books, music, sports, race relations, culture, marriage, dating, a whole gamut of topics and we want to open up the conversation to you!

So I’m excited to announce that my annual birthday blog will be continuing on our brand new website, DexandKandis.com
